NRF54LM20B external flash OTA by sqspi

Hi DevZone,

I am currently working on an external Flash OTA update via SQSPI on the nRF54L15 DK (v0.7.0). I have already verified that SQSPI read/write operations are functional and that standard SPI-based external Flash OTA updates work as expected.

However, in my current tests, the project runs but the SMP server reports the following error every time I attempt to receive new firmware:


Could you please confirm if the current SDK version supports performing external Flash OTA updates using SQSPI?

Sorry for the delay, I don't have a nRF54LM20B on hand, so I can't really try it right now.

I am currently working on an external Flash OTA update via SQSPI on the nRF54L15 DK (v0.7.0). I have already verified that SQSPI read/write operations are functional and that standard SPI-based external Flash OTA updates work as expected.

When you said that, did you mean nRF54LM20 DK or did you indeed try with an nRF54L15 DK? If you didn't already try on a nRF54L15 DK, can please try on one? It would allow us to be more confident that this is not an application problem.

If it works fine with a nRF54L15 DK, tell me, and I'll ask more information about it internally.

I have ported my project to the nRF54L15 DK, but I am now encountering a different error. 

After debugging, I found that the system hangs at the flash_area_open function within MCUBOOT. An exception occurs specifically when MCUBOOT checks fa_id=1, as shown in the image below.

This issue seems to be related to the FLASH_MAP_PM_LIST shown in the following image.

I've upload my project in attach file, now it can be running on NRF54LDK

Hi,

I believe you are seeing issue with the new v3.3.0 SDK because the partition manager has been deprecated in that version and MCUBoot and TF-M have been updated to use devicetree partitions instead of the partition manager (Partition Manager deprecation timeline).

To be sure that it is the problem, can you maybe try to port the application on NCS v3.2.4 to see if you still see the issue?

I test it on NCS v3.2.3. the error is exactly same （abort in MCUBOOT）
