Power Consumption of a Central & Peripheral device

I would like to ask how to calculate the current consumption of a device with both Central and Peripheral role?

Parents
  • At the current time you can calculate the current consumption for advertising and peripheral connections, but not central connections.

So if you want find the current consumption for a device with both central and peripheral roles you will have to measure it. For this I recommend buying the Power Profiler Kit. You can read more about it at the product page, and in this blog post.

  • I have the tools for measuring current on the DK board (a digital storage oscillator with differtial probe), but I want to estimate (or have an idea) of the current consumption before I developed the application. For example, if I set the connection interval to 500ms, can I assume that the Central device can also sleep (System-On) in between the 500ms connection interval? It is because in my application, if I can assume it can sleep (in uA) in between the connection interval, the power consumption of the BLE part will be insignificant.
