Unable to setup nRF51822 sniffer tool on Win7 PC

I have a nRF51822 development dongle. I followed by the instruction and installed the USB friver, nRFGo Studio and Wireshark. All these software are installed a Win7(64bit) PC. After I executed the "ble-sniffer_win_1.0.1_1111_Sniffer.exe", it came out the normal screen for selecting devices. I choose 1 of them and then "w". It prompted an error message about missing a file called libwireshark.dll. After I click "OK", there is another error message came out. It is about another missing file nordic_ble.dll. Then I click OK again. The wireshark launch and I can see the packet number is increasing but no packet information in the middle of the window.

Is there any software I missed to install?

Thank you for your attention.

  • Hi,

Did you run ble-sniffer_win_1.0.1_1111_Sniffer.exe as Administrator the first time, as described in the user guide? Can you try the the steps described under Wireshark does not recognize btle or nordic_ble, and the Sniffer program cannot find version information for the plugins in the troubleshooting section in the user guide?

Have you confirmed that the file libwireshark.dll is present in the install directory? Which version of Wireshark did you install?

    Best regards,

    Jørgen
