Hello there,
While investigating some issues with getting nRF Connect working on Ubuntu Gnome 17.04, I came across a more fundamental problem.
I now have J-Link V6.16b installed on both Windows 10 and Ubuntu Gnome 17.04, the latest build. A mass storage device named JLink appears in the file systems of both OS's when I connect a PCA 10040 board.
However, I can only connect to the board with the JLink software from Win10. I get a "JLink failed" message when attempting to use JLink from Linux.
I have several PCA 10040 boards, but for this experiment I made sure that I was using the same board both times. There is no chance for the on-board firmware to be different.
The first time that I connected this board to Win10 through JLink, JLink prompted me to make a firmware upgrade, and I did so. JLink from Windows currently reports:
Firmware: J-Link OB-SAM3U128-V2-NordicSemi compiled Jun 9 2017 14:57:23
Hardware version: V1.00
Does anyone have any ideas what might be broken? Thanks!
