Change engineering A revision of nRF52840 to production version on 0.9.3 board

HI!

I'm a happy owner of two nRF52840 Preview DK board (v0.9.3). I'm considering to change their chips to production versions. I found that schematics and PCB layouts are pretty similar. 

I do understand that I do this for my own risk but does anybody know the reason why this wouldn't work? I'm asking because I have them only for a week. 

And also do I understand correctly that any official distributor (digikey, mouser) selling only production versions of chip?

Resoldering revision B/C/1 chips on revision A DKs (PCA10056 v0.9.x) will not work as is, see this blogpost. You could add this strap manually by soldering a wire, but you might want to avoid using these boards for any characterization measurements. For development it should be fine.

 

You are correct in your understanding that only the prodction version of the chip(QIAA-C00, DK: PCA10056 v1.0.0) should be available at this time, but for all I know there might still be some engineering material in stock somewhere. All engineering A/B/C material is no longer being produced.
