Is it necessary to add a ceramic filter on NRF52832 antenna port for bluetooth certification(BQB)

we are using NRF52832 for a project  design, I am a bit of  afraid of BQB certification,  I think  add a such like Johanson 2450FM070029 ceramic filter in front of antenna, ( PCB antenna) . it should  have   a big improving on the harmonics and suppression of  RF interference . but seems nobody to do so. any suggestion?

  • Hi,

If you plan to use the higher output power settings of the radio you will need some sort of harmonic filtering to pass teleregulatory tests. This can be 2450FM070029, or it can be the L1+C3 combination in the reference design. You do not need both. If you plan to use lower output power settings, < ~-12 dBm you might be able to squeeze by without it. If you are afreaid to fail we can do a pre-scan for you and tune L1+C3 if needed.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

Thanks your answer. That is clear.

the nfr52832 chip ANT port (pin 30) is 53-j67 ohms. shunt C3 (0.8pf)and series L1(3.9nh), make ANT pin get a 50 ohms output impedance in 2450MHZ .and we plan to add a Pi filter to match our PCB antenna for 50 ohm. but  we have not VNA  equipment  to set the Pi filter value . if we send the  ES sample to you later , can you help to tune these Pi filter L/C value and pre-scan the sample?
