nRf52840 dongle sniffer

1. hardware :  nRf52840 dongle.

2. Purpose : Update Firmware into dongle to be sniffer, and restore original default manufacturer firmware for nRF Connect v2.6.0 desktop.

Q1. how to update firmware "sniffer_pca10056_1c2a221.hex" by nRF connect Programmer?

Q2. which software version is matching this sniffer software version.

The nRF sniffer v2 beta 3 does not support the nRF52840 Dongle (PCA10059). When an nRF Sniffer v2 release is made for the dongle the hex file for the dongle will be tagged with the board number (pca10059).

You can but you will need to tap out the UART lines (RX, TX, RTS, CTS, Vcc and GND) and attach it to a USB to UART converter and then the dongle will work as a sniffer, so a bit more work.

The nRF Sniffer v2 currently does not support the CDC Serial over USB so cannot use the USB to send the packets to the PC.

Currently it is simpler to have a DK board as a sniffer, this will change after we add support for the PCA10059 in the nRF Sniffer (timeline for PCA10059 support is not known). [Nov 2018]

PCA10040 support was added in the v2 beta 1 release and PCA10056 was added in the v2 beta 2 release
