No network interface to work with on nrf9160

Hello,

I followed the getting started guide but the kit can't connect. I'm getting this error:

net_if.net_if_init: There is no network interface to work with!

Is this a known bug, how can i fix it? Or is there a hardware issue?

Hi Daan, 

are you using the iBasis Sim card that came with the nRF91 DK or do you have your own SIM? If its the first, have you activated it through the nRF Cloud site? I see that the UICC box in the LTE Link monitor is red, so that could indicate that there is something with the SIM.

I used the iBasis SIM card and activated the card. The UICC box was red because I didn't issue the AT%XSIM? command. This is the box after the issue:

Ok, could you try to flash the attached hex file using the following command

nrfjprog --program zephyt_at_client.hex --sectorerase -r -f nrf91 --verify

and see if can connect to a network?

Today I was able to perform some more testing. I installed the asset tracker example again and went to Sluis (The Netherlands) but got no reception again. 

I also went to Ghent and there I was finally able to get a signal but only on 2 places and the connection broke frequently.

I can therefore conclude that the chip is actually working and the software is ok. But there is definitely a big problem with reception. I hope this is due to a production error in my specific board. 

How can I replace my defective board, should I contact my distributor?

Sorry for the late reply. 

Happy to hear that you've managed to connect to a network(although briefly) and verified that the software works as it should. Yes, we need to check if this is a production error on your board or if its a network issue in Belgium and the Netherlands. I will contact our RSM in the Netherlands and ask him to test some nRF91 DKs to check the latter, if these work OK, then there must be an issue with your board and we will replace it. Does this sound OK?
