Bluetooth Mesh for Final Year Project

Hi, I am new to the bluetooth mesh concept but I have tried creating one using  nRF52 DKs.I have worked the light switch example but I am stuck there without being able to go further. I am interested in using Nordic for my final year project of Mechatronics Engineering Bachelor's degree. However, as I am new to this I am scared if this would be too complex to me. I would like to know whether the "Nordic Thingy 52" would be ideal for a beginner or could anyone suggest the best nordic product for a beginner ?

Hi.

It is easier to develop and learn using a development kit (nRF52 DK for example), since development kits have more buttons, LED's, examples, and you only need a USB cable to program them. If you want to develop on a Thingy 52 you need to connect the Thingy 52 to a nRF52 DK with a 10-pin SWD cable, as explained here. You can always ask questions on DevZone regardless of which product you choose.

Indeed - this is why it's called a development kit!

In addition to the benefits AndreasF listed, another key factor is that the DKs have an on-board JLink debugger.

I would have thought that developing a BT Mesh network was rather peripheral to your topic of "Mechatronics"?

You should certainly be discussing this with your tutor/supervisor - as they will know the course details and project requirements. Nobody here knows those things!

The whole point of a final year project is to demonstrate that you can apply what you have learned in the course - so, if you've never done anything like this before, it's probably not a great choice ...

You will need to be a competent embedded 'C' programmer, familiar with microcontrollers, comms, and interfacing ...
