AmazonFreeRTOS BLE demo - unknown function

Hi,

I am trying to test the Amazon FreeRTOS BLE demo (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/freertos/latest/userguide/getting_started_nordic.html).

I followed the instructions and I am able to build and upload firmware to nrf52, but then nothing happens. I get no output on the terminal and also no broadcast signal.

If I GO debugger I see Unknown function at 0x00000978. Attached the screenshot from segger.

1. What does unknown function mean? I read on the forums for similar that it might be related to flash_placement.xml. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

2. Did anyone successfully tested the amazon BLE demo example for Nordic?

Hi,

Have you made sure you flashed the softdevice S140 ? (it will flashed by default if you using Segger Embedded Studio) 

I also just tried here and had very similar issue. But my PC stuck at 0x25846 though. 

Unfortunately we don't have much experience with Amazon FreeRTOS. I would suggest you to send them a question, maybe on their forum.

Turns out one needs to run the bootloader example first that is also supplied by amazonfreertos sdk.

running the bootloader first, loads it to the internal flash. maybe all of the AWS FreeRTOS BLE examples require the bootloader, for the over-the-air upgrade capability and additional security features.

you must load the bootloader along with the application before the application can run.
