Adding a unique serial number for every nrf52840 chip

Hi,

I do not want to use the device id as my unique serial number of the nrf52840 chip and would like to generate my own . Where and how can I store this serial number so that it will be easy to retrieve as well. Serial number will be unique for every chip?

Hello,

The UICR has a 32-bit customer register which can be used for storing a unique serial number.

Assuming you want to change the bluetooth address, this can be changed via the softdevice function sd_ble_gap_address_set

While it is possible that you can get two devices with the same ID, it is very, very, _very_, unlikely to happen, due to the random order of a bluetooth address (48 bits in total, where 46 bits are random, see this thread for more info: devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../how-to-get-6-byte-mac-address-at-nrf51822 )
