ble_app_hrs with Serialization. SDK v15.2.0 = OK, SDK v15.3.0 = hard fault

Greetings,

Here are the details:

IDE = SES v4.12

SDK = v15.2.0 and v15.3.0

Hardware = Nordic nRF52 DK (PCA10040 v1.1.1) * 2 and Rigado BMD-300-EVAL * 2 (vB)

I connected the two boards as noted here for UART (Figure 2):

If I run the ble_app_hrs with serialization with the as-supplied code from SDK v15.2.0, this works as expected.

If I simply switch to SDK v15.3.0, I get a hard fault early on:

I see the same results if I use a pair of Rigado BMD-300-EVAL boards in place of the nRF52 DK boards. All are based on the nRF52832.

Any thoughts?

Also, each time the board was programmed, I ran

nrfjprog --eraseall

on each board to ensure a blank part.

The release notes for SDK 15.3.0 says we have made some improvements to the serialization layer,  so it seems like we may have introduced a new bug, unfortunately. I have reported it to the SDK team. I will give you an update as soon as I know more.
