nRF52840. Standby current (battery only)

nRF52840. In case of standby current (battery only)

Measured as follows:

 nRF52_no pwr on.pptx

With only the battery connected, the same current draw as the one attached.
Is there any part of the nRF52 that can operate at that frequency internally?

  • To save current the chip will operate in refresh mode, in this mode it will continuously turn on/off regulators to charge the internal decoupling capacitors to keep them above minimum levels, the frequency will depend on the system current and the current drawn will be as you show. So this is as intended yes.
