nrf9160 : NB-IoT not able to connect

Hi,

We are trying to connect to NB-IoT network but seems nrf9160 not able to connect. We are trying with an NB-IoT SIM in Malaysia. Below is the log captured using LTE Link Monitor.

In the log , we are seeing "+CGEV: ME DETACH" which means Mobile equipment detach. 

Can you please help us in understanding what is wrong ?

Our sim vendor said APN name is "yesiot" , we tried setting that also. But still not able to connect to network.

Hello Aswin,

From the log you have posted, is line number 7 from the bottom the only place where you added the APN? If so, you are missing a quotation mark:

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP",yesiot"

 It should be AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","yesiot"

oh yes ... but i also tried with setting it properly. But I am getting the same results.

Any other issue in the log? Also can you advice how to troubleshoot this issue

Yes! The carrier changed the parameter to the default as per spec and now able to connect to the NB-IoT network. Attaching the final log and trace for reference.

We are getting another issue now. We are able to connect to Nb-IoT network Malaysia , but when tried HTTPs connect with our custom server ( ipv4 address ), the connect is getting failed.

The socket connect function ( connect() in socket.h ) is returning -1.

The wire shark logs are attached. Can you please help us in understanding this issue ?

Another observation is when server address is ipv6 , we are able to connect via HTTPS. Issue is seeing only with ipv4 address. However network have support for both ipv4 and ipv6. 

Also we verified our custom server with ipv4 address independently using another LTE-M SIM. ( Tested the same application code with a different LTE-M network and SIM).
