AVR Programmer with NRF51822

Hey there,

Instead of using a J-Link programmer to program the NRF51822, is there a way to use a AVR Programmer to do this instead?

No . AVRs use a proprietary interface for programming; it is not compatible with other devices - not even other Atmel devices!

As @awneil suggest in his comment a good solution is to use the nRF51 DK . The kit discussed in the thread is an old kit which we don't recommend for new designs. The nRF51 DK are available at these online…
