nRF Connect for Mobile - Does advertiser functionality use S2 or S8 coding for Coded PHY?

Hi,

What is the used coding scheme in nRF Connect for Mobile when advertising on Coded PHY? Is it S2 or S8?

Should be clarified in the screen below

Thanks,

Lukas

  • Hi Lukas

I went into the office today in order to take an Ellisys sniffer trace of a Coded PHY advertisement on an Android device. Using a One Plus 6 for advvertising with the nRFConnect app, I can confirm that Android devices advertises in Coded PHY (S=8). Please see the snippet below for reference.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Simon, just a quick additional question. Haven't you seen that the device would advertise on both S2 and S8 simultaneously?

I am just curious if that's possible because we see slightly different results when using mobile phone advertisements compared to the device running NCS advertisements. There are some silent windows on my receiver phone OnePlus 8T when advertising each 100ms on Coded Phy S8 in NCS and they are not present when I use the same settings but advertisements come from another mobile phone.
