Problem PPK used with Power Profiler App latest version

Hi,

I have the Power Profiler Kit PCA63511 used on top of the dev kit PCA10040. I am trying to measure the power consumption of my custom hardware implementing nrf52832 using the Power Profiler App.

I connected my custom board acc to Measuring current on custom hardware with an nRF5 DK

I started the Power Profiler App (latest version) but it seems to be only compatible when used with the PPK2 but not with the PPK that I am using --> I am required to select a device, I would expect a list of available devices (PCA10040 in my case) to be displayed, like in former version of the power Profiler App, but it is not the case.

Please tell me how whether:
to use the latest Power Profiler App in combination with PPK or
to downgrade the Power Profiler App to a version compatible with PPK (I tried already downgrading to https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/pc-nrfconnect-ppk/tree/release/2.3 following recommendation here https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/f/nordic-q-a/69755/how-to-downgrade-power-profiler-application but it does not seem to apply to MACOs)

Thanks a lot in advance!
Regards,

Marlene

  • Hi Amanda,

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for my late response.

Did you try a different USB port?

I connected the Power Profiler Kit PCA63511 used on top of the dev kit PCA10040 per USB to my Mac. I tried different ports on the MAC. (Btw, I connected the USB cable to PCA10040 board and not to the Power Profiler Kit). Whatever MAC USB port used, the Power Profiler App does not detect my device (PCA10040).

Do you close the Power Profiler App, update the files and reopen the app to source the files again?

Actually I checked again and I did downgrade to the version 2.3.0 of Power Profiler App --> But the Power Profiler App still does not detect my device (PCA10040 in my case). The Power Profiler App version 2.3.0 supports engine "NRFConnect 3.3.0" and my current NRFConnect engine is 3.6.1. So I would like to try installing version 3.3 of the pc-nrfconnect-launcher. I downloaded the version 3.3 of the pc-nrfconnect-launcher from https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/pc-nrfconnect-launcher/tree/release/3.3. Now, how do I downgrade the pc-nrfconnect-launcher

    Thanks!
    Best regards,
    Marlene
