Can SoftDevice generate random address automatically?

Hi,

    How can I make the device generate random address periodically? I searched on the forum and found people mentioned BLE_GAP_ADDR_CYCLE_MODE_AUTO when call sd_ble_gap_address_set. This seems to be there in very old SDK. Is this feature still supported in later SDK?

Hi Min-Ching, 

Which SD would you use? 

sd_ble_gap_address_set is supported by (S13x v2.x). 

In the latest SDK, you can set the BLE address using the function sd_ble_gap_addr_set(). The Nordic default is the random static address, for a random static address you do not need to change it periodically. Using a random static address does not require any management by the application.

    I'm using s140 on 52840. Isn't the random static address will be set once and keep the address? I want to change my mac address periodically. Is it possible to do it?

Hi Min-Ching,

I would suggest to use the SDAPI to enable privacy: sd_ble_gap_privacy_set() instead. See the example in this post.
