Does the nrf5340 chip and/or SDK Support LE Audio and LC3 codec?

I have seen multiple posts about the nrf5340 that confuse me. Posts like this one say that the board/chip is not available yet, as of 4 days ago. But after looking through the Nordic website, I found both the chip for sale and the sdk for sale below:

https://www.nordicsemi.com/About-us/BuyOnline?search_token=nRF5340-DK&series_token=nRF5340

https://www.nordicsemi.com/About-us/BuyOnline?search_token=nRF5340

And I was able to get both of these items in a cart to buy from DigiKey.

https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/NRF5340-DK/1490-NRF5340-DK-ND/13544603?itemSeq=367803586

https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/nordic-semiconductor-asa/NRF5340-QKAA-AB0-R7/11200028

So it looks like they ARE available? Is this a different version of the nrf5340 that doesn't support LE audio and LC3 codec? What would I be buying if I purchased these from DigiKey?

  • Thanks for the info. I just want to make sure I understand.

The nrf5340 chip and SDK that are available are the same chip and SDK's that you recommend to use for LE Audio products?

So is the hardware is ready, but the softdevice to support LE Audio is not? Or is the softdevice ready, but using the API's and libraries for LE Audio is complex and Nordic has not released the example project/documentation on how to use LE Audio with the chip yet?

Not exactly - the nRF5340 is the chip we recommend for LE Audio products, however, we have currently not released any specific LE Audio SDK or examples for LE Audio development. For questions about this, you will have to reach out to your RSM.
