I am encountering the following error when trying to build the Asset Tracker code. I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling it and the issue is still there. I am out of ideas so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am also a complete newbie when it comes to using this board if that is useful information.

update: I hadn't connected the board when building the code earlier. Now I am getting a different error.

Can you make sure you have correctly loaded the project from "File->Open nRF Connect Project" with the following configuration?
Another two suggestions for your development:
1. Use nRF Connect for VS Code as your IDE, find details from the link.
2. The Asset Tracker application is deprecated and succeeded by the nRF9160: Asset Tracker v2 application, please test with it.

I did all the things you recommended and still getting the same error
I am not able to make a build configuration when using vs code for some reason. getting the following error and I used the following build configurations
I also tried running asset tracker v2 using the settings you mentioned (I had done this before too) and encountered the same error
