Programmer v3.0.0 installation issues (several)

Hi,

I have upgraded tools many times, the issue I am having now, I am having no luck solving.

Upgrade to nRF Connect for Desktop v3.11.1 (nrfconnect=setup-3.11.1-ai32.exe)

 - during installation, if you select not to install the version of jlink provided, the Programmer V3.0.0 will error with mis-match jlink version info
 - if you uninstall you version of Jlink, re-install with the option to install version the included version of Jlink, then Programmer v3.0.0 will error : "Error while setting up device (your jlink hw ID): Typeerro: Cannot read property '0' of undefined"

- note, from ToolManager, nRF Connect SDK v1.9.1-> Open Segger Embedded Studio, I can connect to the target device and download/debug, no problem

The above process created a condition where I can longer go backward in versions (uninstall/reinstall) what was working prior to the upgrade.  If I install nRF  Connect for Desktop v3.10 for example, the Programmer and Toolchain Manager both indicate out of date with the yellow exclamation mark graphic... any route I take from that point is unsuccessful

My guess, their are some lingering registry issues with this latest update.

Looking for guidance.

Best - Kevin

  • Hi Kevin

We're indeed aware of the ongoing issues with nRF Connect for Desktop v3.11.1 and are currently looking into providing a fix ASAP. It should be fine to move back to v3.11.0 in the meantime should not give outdated issues as far as I know.

I'll let you know when I get an update internally on this.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Hi Simon!

Sorry to jump in, but your suggestion of reverting to nRF Connect 3.11.0 is not that simple since the latest toolchain manager v1.0.0 doesn't work with 3.11.0, so also that needs to be downgraded, which, as I guess you know, requires fiddling with app sources.
Since this unfortunately relative frequent type of problems cause quite some work for us customers, some different scheme that makes downgrading easier should perhaps be considered.
