Program application using nRF Connect Programmer

I followed this page in the section "Program application using nRF Connect Programmer", and tried to program my nRF5280 Dongle in Windows.

Like below, then I clicked "Write".

The message shows the following error, so I tried to write again.

the second time, the Programmer app cannot find my nRF52840 Dongle. And the red LED on nRF52840 Dongle disappeared. So I clicked the RESET button on the dongle, but it couldn't work.  I don't know how to write again on nRF52840 Dongle.

I connected the dongle to the nrf52840 DK. 

The programmer app shows that "Device is protected. Press Erase all ..."..

I programmed the nrf52840 DK with Blinky example before.

Can I click "Erase all" on nrf52840 DK? (I'm afraid of erasing something I don't know again...)

I didn't connect the dongle to the nrf52840 DK correctly. I am working on how to connect the dongle to nRF52840 DK.

As far as I know, I need to use Debug out port to connect them together.

Hi,

Yes, you need to connect the dongle to the Debug Out pin on the DK. If you need to put new firmware into the dongle, then you will have to "Erase all" (and I guess you have already erased it before since you have tried other samples on it and hence the bootloader firmware is no longer there).

it seems that I will need a "10-pin 2x5 Socket-Socket 1.27mm IDC (SWD) cable" to connect them together, right?

But I don't know how to connect to the dongle if both headers are female, or I need a "male" header like below?

That's right, you need this cable, and then you need to solder a "male" header similar to the one on the "Debug out" of the DK, to the underside of the dongle as shown below:
