Error while setting up device 000683855816: Error: No firmware defined for selected device

Hi,

I am using a power profiler from my Win10 laptop, to test my nrf52 PDK.

The NRF Connect version is 3.11.1 and the Power profiler app version is 3.2.0

I am working with the PPK and nrf52 PDK board.

Initially, all worked ok means I am able to see the current consumption of the board as per the firmware uploaded in the nrf52 PDK board in the power profiler app.

But, by mistake, I uploaded the " ble_app_beacon " firmware into the nrf52 PDK while the PPK board is attached to it.

So might be it corrupted the PPK board firmware bcoz, after that, the LED1 on the PPK board was not glowing.

I searched and found the firmware of PPK from the Nordic site https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-hardware/Power-Profiler-Kit/Download#infotabs and uploaded the " ppk_110.hex " file into the PPK board via J link Programmer.

After that, the LED1 on PPK is turned on. Then I checked whether everything is working or not by following the procedure mentioned in the below video link from nordic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBKeHlOcO_g 

But I have got the below error while selecting a device from the " SELECT DEVICE " tab of the power profiler app,

I am also getting the same error while the PPK board is not attached to the nrf52 PDK board (P22 is connected via a short link), I have tried different data cables and also used the nrf52 DK board.

I have searched for the error is there any solution but have not succeeded

Hi,

I can see you are consistently writing nRF52 PDK (Preview DK), we are not supporting these for quite some time, so I assume you have a nRF52 DK you can use instead.

In this case I suggest you first only connect the nRF52 DK, then run 'nrfjprog --recover' from command line. The hook on the PPK, and repeat the 'nrfjprog --recover', then finally you can startup nRF Connect for desktop and startup the power profiler app, you should be prompted to program the ppk with appropriate firmware.

I also suggest trying to update nrf command line tools if you haven't recently:

Thanks for the reply,

I have installed " nrf-command-line-tool " on my win10 64-bit.

As per your suggestion, I did the process but it did not work.

I have done the below process, please correct me if I am done some wrong,

1. Connect the nrf52 DK to the pc

2. Windows key + R -> cmd -> Ok (to open the command prompt)

3. write the " nrfjprog --recover " command -> enter

4. Below message displayed on the command prompt,

Recovering device. This operation might take 30s.
Erasing user code and UICR flash areas.

5. Attached the PPK kit to it and again wrote the " nrfjprog --recover " command -> enter

6. Below message displayed on the command prompt,

Recovering device. This operation might take 30s.
Erasing user code and UICR flash areas.

Then open the nrf connect desktop and power profiler but the same error is displayed in the power profiler log window.

There is no prompted message shown for program the PPK

Yes, the first time(when everything working fine) when I connect the PPK with the power profiler app then this message was prompted.

But after this error and your provided solution, it was not prompted.

Ok, will try with another PC and check the result.
