nrf Connect SDK Fundamentals Lesson 5 Excercise 1 doesn't work with thingy:53 and nRF5340-DK

I worked this example with nRF52840-DK kit it works very well. But, when i use thingy:53 with nRF5340-DK, I am not getting any ouput in puTTY screen. Even any example is not working with these 2 boards as i am using nRF52840-DK since start of the nRF connect SDK Fundamentals course it works evrything fine. But with thingy:53 with nRF5340-DK even i cannot see the simple hello world output. But the LED still blinks.

What would be the problem?

Hvae you checked the Programming THingy53 guide?

Also, please take a look at the Developing for THingy:53 and Getting started with Thingy:53

So, I used the same program which is in Lesson-5(Exercise-1) solution for thingy too. Actually they did not mention anything in that lesson that if i use thingy i should follow different rules. Do I have to do any extra apart from the things mentioned in that exercise?

I am trying to reproduce it. Are you able to flash it onto the Thingy? And do you get the LED to turn on after flashing? Or does it blink?

Sorry for late response. I can see the white light on thingy but couldn't see any output on PuTTY.

Edit: Same for Lesson-3(Exercise-1), Lesson-6(Exercise-2) too. Even i used Programmer in nRF Software to flash the program still same thing couldn't see output in PuTTY, I think no example programs in fundamentals works, needed help as soon as possible please.

Sorry for the delayed response as I was on sick leave for the week. 

Could you tell me your nRF Connect SDK version? What is your Programmer version? Have you tried with different boards?

Also, are you trying on a Windows?

nRF connect for desktop version is v3.12.0, programmer version is v3.0.4 and its working with nRF52840-DK kit but not with nRF5340-DK with thingy-53, and yes i am trying in windows with vs code and PuTTY.

Hi,

I am also having trouble with the Exercise in Fundamentals. The Thingy is acting strange. I will check with a few more examples that you mentioned. I was able to run other default Thingy samples like Edge Impulse, Homekit weather stations etc. Could you try those too just to make sure that your Thingy is fine? Just flash some default Thingy fw and see if it works.

I don't know about the edge, weather station things but i tried light and light fixture also the sensor server and server client examples which is compatible with thingy-53 as show below and its working:). But don't know whats the problem with fundamental examples as they already mentioned in Lesson-6(Exercise-2) is compatible with thingy-53.

Hi,

I have inquired internally and it is a documentation mistake. The only sample that should support the THingy:53 is the Lesson 6 (Exercise 2). THe rest have not been tested on the THingy:53. Thanks for letting us know.

As for the Exercise 2 (LESSON 6), I am also getting the problem of output not being observed in the terminal. We will look into this now and I will let you know.

I have tried the Lesson 6 (Exercise 2) of the Thingy:53 in the DevAcademy and the output works. Could you try this once more? 

You should observe Red Value, Green Value and Blue Value continuously in the serial terminal.
