How to filter on manufacturer ID when scanning for BLE advertisements?

Hi,

I want to filter BLE advertisements on manufacturer ID when scanning with nrf_ble_scan. I cannot change the advertising packet, but only want to filter on packets from a certain manufacturer. Is there a way to filter in this case? Thank you in advance!

You can use the manufacturer UUID as a scan filter in nrf_ble_scan module to get scan events from the advertisement with that specific manufacturer ID. Please see this similar thread like your usecase.

Thank you for your answer! I have searched "everywhere" but cannot find a "manufacturer UUID" for Ruuvi. Is there any other way?

Either you need to have a name or UUID in the adv packets to be able to use the scan filter feature. What other data is available on the advertising packet?

The only data available is Flags and Manufacturer specific data.

If Ruuvi is not advertisiing name or manufacturer specific UUID, then it is not possible to use nrf_ble_scan module. Nevertheless, you can attempt to not use nrf_ble_scan and filter every advertising packet in your app based on manufacturer specific data (not only UUID or name). In our older SDK's (I think nRF5SDKv11 or so) we used to have examples that do this. But all newer SDKs use nrf_ble_scan module.

I am filtering the packets based on manufacturer ID in the app, but I was just wondering if it was possible to do it at a *"lower level". Now I know that it is not. Thank you for your answer.
