ppk2 - unknown device

Hi, ppk2 is not identified by the power profiler tool. As a side note, Jlink is identified and works ok.

Tried reset, uninstalling and reinstalling power profiler, and uninstalling and reinstalling jlink.

OS: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS

nrf connect for desktop 4.0.0

nrfjprog version: 10.19.0 external
JLinkARM.dll version: 7.86

  • Hello,

PPK has two USB connectors. Have you used the right one (USB data/power) when plugging in the USB cable? Is the LED lit/flashing, and which color is it Can you replace the USB cable, connecting it directly to the computer, without using the USB hub? You can also check with another computer to see if it is driver issue or PPK2 hardware/firmware issue?

Is PPK2 the Unknown device? If the "unknown" is the PPK2, then the USB works but the PPK2 is in some erroneous state or the USB CDC ACM driver / udev rules are not correct, so the USB info is shown incorrectly.

Also you can try lsusb and see if the device is listed there.

    Thanks.

  • The usb cable is connected to the Data/Power port. Regarding leds on ppk2 - green led, blinking slowly.

ppk2 is the unknown device for sure, e30abdaa is the serial number on ppk2.

    typing lsusb detects the ppk:
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 1915:c00a Nordic Semiconductor ASA PPK2

In a few days time I could have access to other ppk2 and test it on my computer, and also try this ppk2 on another computer. Is there anything I can try in the meantime?

  • Can you try to do  lsusb -v to get more vervose output something like this?

If you can find the ppk listed by doing following command, then we can say USB is working, issue lies elsewhere.

    lsusb -v |grep "PPK2" -a10 -b10
