47uF VDD decoupling capacitor on nRF52810-CAAA (WLCSP package, C9 in reference schematic)

We have a customer whose product uses nRF52810-CAAA,It works on Bluetooth and the transmit power is 4dBm. And they added a 47uf capacitor to ground on the VDD side of the chip instead of the 4.7uf value recommended in our datasheet. Does this have an impact on chip operation? At present, the products they ship have a certain percentage of complaints, Bluetooth work is unstable, and we suspect 47uf. Due to the low power consumption of this product, using ultra-small coin cell batteries, they need to use 47uf capacitors to ensure the power output of the power supply.

We found a similar issue in devzone as below, please help confirm it? Thank!

  • Hi Roger

Using a 47 µF cap on VDD is not a problem. This can be any size, but at least 4.7 µF.

The problem must be something else. Can you get the schematic, BOM and layout for the design? Especially the CL value of the 32 MHz crystal and the load cap values (C1 and C2 in the reference schematic) are interesting.

    Best regards,
