Qualified Design Listing and required Testing

Hi,

Does hardware that has already a Qualified design Listing (Bluetooth.org) requires re-testing of the RF-PHY ? (refering to transmitter tests (i.e TRM-LE/CA/01/C (output power at NOC) )

Thx.

patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

You can have a look at this application note and this thread may also help: http://devzone.nordicsemi.com/index.php/ble-sig-certification,-reference-design-to-be-used-to-obtain-epl

Please let me know if you have other questions.

  • Hi Hung,

Thank you for fast feedback. Information is helpful, however in regards to FCC it is stated that :

"This only applied for Bluetooth certification, if you want to do FCC, you will have to do the unintentional radiator test for every product, regardless that you use the same module"

Does this mean every single product in factory has to be tested individually ??

    thx.

    patrick

  • @Patrick: No, it means if you have several different products which use the same RF module, you need to send a single sample of each product for testing.

  • Hi Hung,

is this also applicable when a Nordic reference design is integrated into one PCB ? Does only one of these designs need to to be tested against the RF-PHY ? and all other products are then automatically OK ?

In other words could you use a so-called Golden sample ?

    thx.

  • Hi Patrick,

To avoid RF-PHY retest, you would need to replicate the Development Kit's board(PCA-10005/PCA-100004) including the 2 headers P1, P2. Also you should not add any casing or housing.

So most likely your product will not be exactly the same as the Development board, and if it is the case, the RF-PHY retest is needed.

You only have to do RF-PHY retest once for each design.
