Can not activate SIM

There was an error submitting your user information. This SIM cannot be activated.

Again and again I get the same crap, I can't activate my nRF9160-DK without the SIM working and this excuse for a user interface will not accept my information.

It has taken all day to get here just to fail. I can not imagine provisioning having to be this complex.

  • Hello,

I fully acknowledge the anger and disappointment of not being able to register and activate the SIM. Can you please add what error message you are receiving when it fails? Maybe I can help to clear the confusion. You are right, the provisioning part should not be this complicated.

What SIM are you trying to activate? Can you please go through the steps that you have done?

    Thank you!

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • The Error: There was an error submitting your user information. This SIM cannot be activated.

It appears you have to register the SIM that comes with the nRF9160-DK from iBASIS then on another page install the device information after the SIM has been registered.

Here is the error as an image:

    Cloud activate SIM

I filled out the required information, the first time I used by PO BOX which causes problems with people do not understand rural living, when the process rejected my user information I deleted the SIM and closed the browser then started over using my street address, same error.

  • I would love to but I have not a clue how to PM, I tried iBasis in messages but they don't list anyone.

  • Hi ,

Have you been able to submit the SIM card's ICCID in a PM? To send a PM, or private message, you can click on the envelope in top right corner. A drop down menu will a appear and you should be able to click "new message".

In the message view you should be able to add the recipient by typing in iBasis, selecting iBasis Tech Support and then add your message.

Also, please see email from your RSM with some contact information.

Regarding the SIM activation, it may also be an issue on the nRF Cloud side. I will investigate and update you as soon as I know.

Let me know how it works out.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • I sent the information via email, they contacted me this morning I think but my network decided to go insane, seems my hot spot SIM card had to be cleaned...  at any rate I just finished the SIM activation, when I tried to add my device, they couldn't find it:

You have GOT to be joking

I sent ibasis the complete screen shot, it might be a good thing to explain HOW and the sequence of signing up... I brought up another device on Hologram today, 3 minutes, 2 of those minutes looking for the magnifying glass to read the SIM.

I watched the Video on this again but you really need to make a new video with only what has to be done. I went back to the nrf9160-DK and watched, the LED1 & LED4 were flashing together after awhile I then tried to enter the device and it was accepted. Perhaps if the error spoke English:

Your device has not poked me yet, please be patience as we have not worked this out yet.

I wonder why Hologram did not need the IMEI to allow me on?

We can close this now, the nrf9160-DK is connected, has had several different applications installed and now I can start working on power measurements

     Middle of Nowhere.

  • Hello

Happy to hear that you have got the kit up and running.

What video did you watch? Can you please provide the link? I will forward to our marketing department to fix if this is not valid anymore.

Can you please elaborate where you got this message? This was new to me.

The SIM registration on nRF Cloud is to allow you to manage the iBasis SIM, i.e. data usage, top off data, etc. This is not possible with any other SIM, at the moment.

Edit: Also, please make sure to connect to your board using the LTE Link Monitor, which allows you to read misc. messages provided by application and network.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • The Video is the main Unbox and get your Nordic nRF9160 DK up and running. I was created when you were shipping 0.9.0 boards with v1.4.0 SDK, since then you have installed certs allowing the end users to by-pass that (jump to the 9:36 minute mark), you have nRF Connect Desktop 3.6.1 which installs everything for Windows 10 users and the tools which making dealing with this complex hardware as easy as running Arduino. The message: " Perhaps if the error spoke English:" an example of an Error message I would have used instead of "Trouble shoot nRF code 40412".

The images are from " LTE Link Monitor" Great tool, lots of information now if you could add scripting to it.. Last year there was only Verizon here, looks like Sprint and T-Mobile moved in. Thanks for the help!
