Running Nordic Open Thread Border Router image on RPI Zero W

Hello,

I am currently creating a product, and i wanted to make it as cost effective as possible. So i was considering using RPi Zero W for Thread Border router setup. I know Nordic only support there devices etc. 

But i would like to know in general, whether i can use Nordic border router image on RPi Zero W ? Have anyone tried this ? Any sort of information or guidance will be useful.

 Please note that Nordic border router image is not longer maintained or supported. We strongly advise to follow the steps provided in OpenThread.io on how to configure the OTBR. That said, the RPi Zero W should be able to run OTBR, however, this device has lower specifications compared to Raspberry Pi 3B or newer.

Using the RPi Zero W is not something we have tried, meaning that we cannot guarantee that the OTBR will function 100%

What Nordic samples are you referring to? The OpenThread Border Router is still using the same Thread protocol as all Nordic samples, based on the OpenThread stack. 

In nRF5 SDK for Thread and Zigbee v4.1.0, the Thread examples in this SDK are built on top of the OpenThread stack and nRF5 SDK v16.0.0, which you can use to develop your applications.

The nRF Connect SDK provides support for developing Thread applications based on the OpenThread stack. The OpenThread stack is integrated into Zephyr.

If you can use CoAP then I suggest using this for the proof of concept, or integrate the Simple MQTT sample into your Thread application.
