 I am trying to program an nRF9160 using a Segger Flasher Compact with J-Link version 7.60e and nrfjprog version 10.15.2 on a machine running 64-bit Windows 10. This was working for a few days but stopped working this morning although nothing changed. I have read through the forum about other people experiencing the same issue and tried all of the fixes suggested. I uninstalled and reinstalled both JLink and the nRF Command Line tools to the latest version. I have tried both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of these with no success. 

The flasher does appear under device manager:

Can someone please tell me why it is appearing as an unsupported device in nRF Connect for desktop and failing with the command line tools?

Hi Katelyn,

We are getting a few reports on the device not being detected. Our developers are currently working on a fix for this. In the meantime, could you try downgrading to v3.7 of the nRF Connect for Desktop and try once again.? Please follow the steps mentioned below to do this.

1. Download the latest 3.7 version of nRF Connect for Desktop from https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-tools/nRF-Connect-for-desktop/Download?lang=en#infotabs (for macOS this is 3.7.2, for Windows and Linux 3.7.1 because 3.7.2 was not needed and not released for these)

2. After starting nRF Connect for Desktop 3.7, a prompt will come up about the upgarde. Click "No" on this.

3. In the settings, click on "Add source" and enter the URL http://developer.nordicsemi.com/.pc-tools/nrfconnect-apps/3.7-apps/apps.json

4. Back in the list of all apps, all apps should show up twice now, one with "official" below them and one with "3.7 compatible apps" below them. If you want to hide the incompatible versions, click on "Filter" and deselect "Official".

5. Install the apps you need in the older versions and use them.

Hope this helps. Please try and let me know if the device is detected when using v3.7.

Hi Katelyn,

The JLink issues has been fixed in the new release(v3.10.0). Could you also try upgrading to the latest version.? nRF connect v3.7 was also a quick alternate for this.. Perhaps it has something to do with the board itself or the flasher. Are you able to turn ON the board(Does LED5 light up when switching ON the nRF9160DK).? Could you try connecting the device using the normal USB cable provided with the DK and check if the device is detected.?

I've experienced the same problem of yours. I've tried the 3.7, 3.04 and 3.11 versions of the programmer, but I'm still receiving this message:

"Unsupported device. The detected device could not be recognized as neither JLink device nor Nordic USB device."

My computer is a macBookPro, chip M1, with software macOS Ventura, version 13.1;I've tried 4 different Jlink devices, but I'm still facing the problem. How did you solve it? Did it work?

This was a bug in the older versions that has been fixed and is no more an issue in the newer versions.. Could you tell which version of the nRF Conect for desktop, programmer and JLink are you using.?
