Not able to download nRF SDK in MacOs and accidentally closed my last raised ticket, Einar was helping to sort this out.M

I am working on Apple Macbook Air with M1 silicon and I installed nRF command tools version 10.15.4macOS

When I open the toolchain manager , there is an error that shows up in the log:

ERROR Failed to get the library versions: JLINKARM_DLL_COULD_NOT_BE_OPENED (Origin: "Failed to get module versions.")

also I tried installing the nRF connect SDKv1.9.1, but not able to download.

Does anyone have a proper way around this problem.

Hi Einar,

I accidentally close my ticket, but answer to your question is yes.

  • Hi Einar,

How do I install the package after download. Any updates? I am in an urgent need to get this fixed, your help is indispensable and will be appreciated.

  • Hi again

When you're talking about the toolchain manager, you are referring to the nRF Connect for Desktop tool, right?

Installing on an M1 Mac shouldn't be a problem, from the errors you are getting it seems like it might be a problem related to your internet connection, maybe a firewall is blocking nRF Connect?

It is recommended to install through nRF Connect for Desktop, but it is also possible to install manually. If you want to give that a shot you can find a guide here.

    Best regards,

    Einar

  • Hi Einar,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am referring about the Desktop tool. For your reference I am attaching the screenshot of the tool on my mac.

Please have a look at the log. Are you still sure that it is network issue?

  • yes this looks very much like a network issue, can you show me the full error message starting with "Error: Unable to download"?

    It seems to continue offscreen.

  • Hi Einar,

Thanks for the help, I was able to complete the installation. I did the followings steps:

    1. Enabled location tracking for the nRF tool chain manager.

    2. Didn't allow the system to sleep while the download was on.

I think these 2 points helped. Your comments on these would be valued.

However I am finding another problem with the VS code installation. I am attaching the screenshot of VS code

Please help in this regard also.
